It’s all ‘bananas’ at Art Basel Miami this year!

Chiquita will be prominent this year at Art Basel Miami as one of the official partners, celebrating the “longstanding connection between bananas and the art world,” the company said in its statement.

Of course, Justin Sun is thrilled, considering he has already eaten the first of many.

Banana art is booming throughout Art Basel Miami. At Oliver Cole Gallery, Emil Armendariz, also known as Mr Debonair, taped a banana sculpture with a grenade pin to the stand wall, selling for USD 9,000. Titled Bang-nana, the work is a play on Catellan’s work, which, according to the artist, “still has the comedic humour and makes people laugh.”

Ben Brown Fine Arts is bringing back Gavin Turk’s Giraffe, which was first introduced at Frieze London in 2021. At the time, it was priced at USD 30,000; today, it is sold for USD 50,000. The Giraffe is a bronze sculpture that resembles a decomposing banana. However, This Giraffe banana comes with a Rainforest Alliance certification sticker, showing that the product meets sustainability standards.

Walk over to Design Miami and visit R & Company, where you will find Joyce Lin’s peeled-open Woodnanas, which can be purchased for USD 3,600.-
