If you haven’t managed to attend, now is the time to book your tickets for Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere, as the 60th International Art Exhibition, the Venice Biennale, will end on November 24th.
Curated for the first time by a Brazilian, Adriano Pedrosa is “honoured and humbled by this prestigious appointment, especially as the first Latin American to curate the International Art Exhibition, and in fact, the first one based in the Southern Hemisphere”. Adriano is the artistic director of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) and received the Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence in 2023.
Environmental sustainability was the guiding principle of the Biennale, which hopes to receive ‘carbon neutrality’ certification once again as in 2023 for its scheduled activities: the 80th Venice International Film Festival, the Dance, Music, and Theatre Festivals, and the 18th International Architecture Exhibition.
The Central Pavilion (Giardini) and the Arsenale will present Pedrosa’s International Exhibition in two sections: the Nucleo Storico and the Nucleo Contemporaneo. The Nucleo Storico comprises works from 20th-century Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The Nucleo Contemporaneo, on the other hand, is dedicated to the folk artist, the indigenous artist, the outsider artist, and the queer artist.
